WHO WE ARE
Established in 2000, Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) in the Americas is a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. that draws resources from the synergy of all Nigerian Professionals in the Diaspora, to instill ethical consciousness and civic responsibility that will enhance the socio-economic advancement of Nigerians and humanity in general. NIDO is currently focusing on: professional networking, social advocacy, education, healthcare, technological and economic empowerment, as well as skills and cultural exchange projects. NIDO is recognized by the Nigerian government as the umbrella organization for all Nigerians in the Americas and Caribbean including their community based organizations. In 2005, NIDO established an official charitable arm for the organization.
WHAT WE ENVISION
The core vision of NIDO, deeply rooted in the organization's firm belief that Diaspora Nigerians can make significant contributions to Nigeria, is to develop effective modes—through programs, policies, and advocacy—for Nigerians abroad to harness their talents, expertise, and resources for Nigeria's development and nation building. NIDO believes that this overriding framework and philosophy resonates with every Nigerian man, woman, and organization abroad and sets the foundation for a profound opportunity to unite, collaborate, and effect needed change in our Homeland and beyond.
WHAT WE aim for

Harness Nigerian Diaspora Resources Leverage Nigerian Diaspora economic, human, and technology resources for Nigeria 's development. -
Build "Info" Structure for Resource Sharing Promote knowledge transfer and information sharing among all Nigerians in the Diaspora, and the public and private sectors in Nigeria. -
Strengthen Collectiveness and Influence - Mobilize vast support, and promote cooperation and networking among Nigerians in Diaspora.
- Promote unity, ethnic understanding and communications between Nigerian organizations, corporations, and individuals in the Americas and Caribbean.
- Promote civic awareness and advocacy in matters affecting, and issues vital to its constituency.
- Provide linkages, policy input, and guidance to government.
Promote Nigeria - Enhance image of Nigeria to strengthen business, travel, and investment opportunities
- Promote, support and encourage global trade awareness and ethical consciousness that foster positive business climate between Nigeria and other nations.
